The theme of this workshop is the contemporary experience of dislocation, both in its psychological and social aspects of estrangement and alienation, and in its meaning within the discourses of tourism and migration.

At the same time, the workshop reflects on the role of the artist as an “agent” of displacement, acting out the movement of ideas within communities. Throughout the workshop, group dynamics and psychology will play a fundamental role.

The sessions provide an introduction to the themes of tourism and migration, complemented by audio-visual documentation and by a reading list which will be referenced throughout the course. In the second phase, the workshop will encourage participants to develop a heightened awareness and understanding of one another through collective brainstorming, social exchanges and tutoring sessions. These will lead to individual and group work on the theme of the course. At the conclusion of the workshop a presentation of the artworks produced in Palanga will take place.
